So I found a new blog about ad stuff

While googling “stupid art director” a little bit ago (feeling a little self-depreciating), I was lead to this post. Which I can relate to in a way. I’m called an Art Director now at the place where I work—actually, Sr. Art Director, if you’d like me to be more accurate, although the “Sr.” part of the title hasn’t seemed to add or take away anything from my daily duties of…directing art. But getting back to that post on American Copywriter, I’ve had similar thoughts. I’ve decided not too long ago—it might’ve been this past Monday even—that I don’t ever want to be a Creative Director, I’ve seen it, and I don’t think I’d want to do it. Part of it is because I don’t think I’d be good at it, but most of it is that I just love doing the work, I love figuring it all out and then making it work. I’d be bored and frustrated not being able to get my hands on things.
I wanted to mention too, that the American Copywriter blog was a nice find for me today, they have a podcast that I haven’t listened to yet, but plan to as soon as the past four episodes of the Ricky Gervais show are finished loading. The blog is written by people from an agency called Sullivan, Higdon & Sink which you can find at They’ve got a lot of pretty great work, and a pretty casual, honest perspective about what they do. Makes me a bit jealous. or maybe enlightened. either way, I really like the way they approach things.
